Jim Stark CA TEP CTA
Having qualified as a chartered accountant in 1983, Jim went on to specialise in taxation, reaching a senior managerial position with a Big 4 firm in Edinburgh where he also qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 1986. During this period he specialised in corporate tax, gaining valuable experience working with a wide range of clients from Plc's to owner managed businesses in addition to working in numerous projects with the firms corporate finance and insolvency groups.
Since moving back to the Scottish Borders in 1991, his main focus has been with the owner managed business and private clients, where he takes pride in delivering effective solutions to the diverse range of corporate and personal tax and estate planning issues the clients face.
Jim is also a qualified trust and estate practitioner (TEP), having been admitted to membership of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 1995. He recently served on the committee of STEP Scotland. Jim also advises on a range of trust, wills and executory matters from a taxation perspective as well as acting in a trustee or executor capacity for many clients.
As managing director, Jim takes overall responsibility for the continued development of client services. Like his fellow directors, Jim fully recognises the importance of building excellent long term client relationships based on trust and a solid understanding of their business. In doing so he and his fellow directors are passionate about delivering the advice clients require to succeed in achieving their business and personal objectives.
